Acai Oprah ads are popping up all over the web as marketers hope to benefit from the segments that were done about the benefits of the acai berry.
Acai berries have really picked up speed recently and a large part of their new fame has come from shows like Oprah, Rachael Ray, and others that talked about the health benefits of adding acai berries to your diet.
Since that time, there has been a huge surge in consumer interest as well as companies hoping to take advantage of the new wave. Unfortunately, some of these companies and distributors have started to use Oprah’s picture with statements saying that she has endorsed their products.
This is of course not true, and Oprah has apparently responded with the following web site statement…
The Truth About Oprah and Açaí “Consumers should be aware that Oprah Winfrey is not associated with nor does she endorse any açaí berry product or online solicitation of such products. Attorneys for Harpo are pursuing any companies that claim such an affiliation.”
Obviously, you get this kind of thing when a hot product hits the market and clearly Oprah has to protect her brand. The good news is that the show did highlight the fruit acai. Two of Oprah’s frequent guests are Dr. Nicholas Perricone and Dr. Mehmet Oz. Both of these gentlemen had good things to say about the use of acai.
Dr. Perricone, who has numerous best selling books on personal health, called the acai berry his #1 Superfood. This was because the berries are packed with so many great nutrients like vitamins, fiber, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants.
Dr. Oz talked about the abillity of acai to help the body combat aging. He mentioned how the antioxidants in acai berries fight against free radicals and oxidation which ultimately cause our vital organs such as the heart, liver, eyes, and our skin to become old and age.
Acai berries are grown and harvested in the Amazon and the locals have been using them for hundreds of years. They look similar to a grape but they have a large seed inside. The berries themselves are quite perishable and are not available outside of the immediate growing region. However, they are processed locally and then shipped abroad to be made into various supplements and drinks.
Hopefully, the acai Oprah ads will slow down and consumers will be able to see the true value of the berries without any associated hype.
