Acai complaints are starting to pick up on the web lately and there are two primary reasons for these complaints. Firstly, the demand for acai berry type products has skyrocketed over the last year and with more sales you are obviously going to have an increase in customer complaints. That pretty much happens with any product that is selling millions of units per month.
Secondly, the amount of acai complaints have risen due to some unethical manufacturers and promoters who have become pretty desperate in trying to make a dollar. Two of the primary complaints being the use of “flogs” or fake blogs, and the forced continuity programs that charge you monthly. So, let’s discuss these two issues so that you can be an informed consumer should you decide to purchase acai.
Fake Acai Blogs
Basically, flogs or fake blogs are blogs that are created with standard stock type pictures that try to give the site visitor the impression that it is a real person. In other words, these are models that routinely sell their photos on the web for use on web sites.
Unfortunately, some site owners have decided to take those photos and digitally modify them to show false weight loss. Often, the flogs come with short bios suggesting that the person is married, has 2 or 3 kids and has tried everything to lose weight. 99% of the time, these stories are completely made up and that quickly came to light when the same pictures were popping up on thousands of web sites and most of them had different names.
Any marketer who employs these kinds of tactics are basically hoping that the buyer will not visit more than one site and figure out that the person listed and all the so called comments are not real.
Acai Complaint About Forced Monthly Continuity
Let’s say first that forced continuity, or what is sometimes called autoship, programs are not uncommon. There are many reputable companies in the United States and abroad that use this strategy to gather regular monthly customers. Direct sales companies, movie rentals, pest control, and others employ the use of this method.
The way forced continuity systems generally work is that the customer signs up at some kind of reduced rate or special offer for a specified period of time. After that period has elapsed, the monthly charge for the product or service will automatically begin “unless the customer decides to cancel beforehand.” Again, this is a very common practice and method of doing business.
Bulk of the Acai Complaints
The bulk of the acai complaints have not come from the use of forced continuity methods but because some companies have been sleezy and make it very difficult to cancel future orders.
This kind of behavior is most often perpetrated via “fly by night” type companies that have been quickly formed to take advantage of the enormous demand for acai products. Most companies that have been around for any length of time, and have other products in their inventories, will not stoop to these measures just to make money. Clearly it would ruin their reputations and impact the overall sales of the company.
The Simple Truth About Acai Berry and Acai Berry Complaints
When you ignore all the hype and take a look at the simple truth, acai berries are a fruit grown in a very specific region of the world. Like many things in nature, the nutrients and properties of acai berries are extremely powerful and can have a dramatic impact on your health.
The berries have been featured on many national television shows because of that reason. Some very famous celebrity doctors like Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Perricone did endorse the benefits of acai berry. And yes, it was highlighted on Oprah as one of the world’s top superfoods.
Ultimately, the health benefits of acai has pretty much been documented. Are they miracle berries? No. Will they make you drop tens of pounds in a few days? No. Do some of the formulas have an impact on your health, fat retention, aging, inflammation, and more? Well, you will have to be the judge for your own body but millions of consumers say that it works for them.
So, are acai complaints unjustified? The answer is that many of the recent complaints may be very justified based on fake blogs and companies that make it had to cancel subsequent orders. But, those kinds of actions do not take away the fact that acai berries have been used for hundreds of years as effective additions to a healthy diet.
How to Protect Yourself from Acai Complaints
1. Avoid the fake acai girl blogs. If you see a blog with a bio that says “My name is… and I am married…and I lost…” be careful. Also, if the blog has a long line of “you should buy now” comments, it’s probably going to lead cause problems for you later.
2. Read the small print once you get to the order page. Your goal is to identify exactly how long the trial period is (i.e 7 days, 14 days, etc) and make sure to cancel any future orders before the trial ends.
3. Ensure that the manufacturer’s web site has some kind of contact information. 24 hour contact is ideal with a toll free number but not all sites provide this service. In the end, you just need to be an informed consumer before deciding to buy. Hopefully, this article will help.
As for acai berry products and the demand, it shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
