Dr. Oz acai berry diet questions are all over the internet with most web surfers simply wanting to know who is Dr. Oz and did he say anything good about acai berries.

Dr. Oz’s real name is Mehmet Oz and he is a 48 year old cardiothoracic surgeon who was born in Cleveland, Ohio.  Dr. Oz is also a New York Times Best Sellers listed author who became very famous after frequent appearances on the Oprah show.

Acai berry has become extremely popular lately due to being recognized as one of nature’s most powerful and healthy foods, and both Oprah and Dr. Oz had a little to do with its exposure to not only her immediate audience but to the entire United States.

One of the strongest nutrients in acai is its antioxidants and that is one of the reasons that Dr. Oz recognizes acai as one of the top 10 superfoods.  He gave a brief demonstration using two halves of apple where he coated one side with lemon juice.

The apple without the lemon juice eventually became brown and shriveled but the side with the lemon juice remained pratically new.  Dr. Oz explained that this is what happens to our skin, eyes, heart, and other key organs when exposed to free radicals and oxidation.

Acai berry has the ability to fight off these dangerous free radicals and help protect us against premature aging.  Dr. Perricone, who is another frequent guest on the Oprah show, also highly recommended acai calling it nature’s perfect energy food and naming it his #1 Superfood.

Dr. Oz clearly encourages everyone to make acai a part of their healthy diet.
